I like to stop and be nostalgic sometimes. And I find that I long for homes that I remember hating, and stuff that annoyed me at the time now seems funny. I think I need to adopt the perspective of gratitude. life is stressful right now, but it has been worse. And I need to keep in the forefront of my consciousness that it will also be getting better.
So enjoy...

The past is prologue, everything that has happened to us must be moved on from, but cannot be ignored. Being in rough times then doesn't mean that it's always been rough, just as the happy times of the past aren't indicators for present happiness. Everything that has happened is part of the larger context that is your life. The past means nothing if it is ignored, conversely, the past means nothing if we hold on to it. You can't change what has happened, only what will happen. The past cannot be helped, controlled or marginalized. The only thing that we have is the present, and in turn we have some stake in our future. The present cannot exist without the past, but the present can't move toward the future if all that time is spent looking back. Sorry, I'm out of cliches, but you know what I'm saying.
(BTW, you're a great mom, because if my kid looked at me with that face when he was in trouble, he would totally be off the hook :) )
